2nd Meeting Recap
Published: 06/25/2022

The second neighborhood meeting was held on April 28th, 2022 at Hawthorne Elementary School. We had the pleasure of having Master Sergeant Loruse as well as his replacement Master Sergeant Larry Dean Wyatt. We received an informative speech by Master Sergeant Loruse about neighborhood safety.

Highlights from his speech include:
1. ALWAYS call 911. DO NOT call the non-emergency line or precinct. They are able to mobilize officers more efficiently when 911 is called.
2. Lock your vehicles and doors to avoid theft.
3. Install cameras and lighting to promote safety.
4. If you see something...Say something.
5. Get to know your neighbors.

We hope to hold a future neighborhood meeting at the precinct and discuss more regarding neighborhood safety.

Next Meeting Update
Published: 03/29/2022

Hello, fellow residents of Youngs-Englewood. Updates since our last meeting. It has been quite some time since our last meeting. Unfortunately, the surge of COVID cases during the winter prevented us from having a sooner meeting. Given that the COVID cases have decreased, we are now able to schedule our next meeting. We are currently working with Principle Elms at Hawthrone Elementary to secure a space and date for our next meeting. The proposed date is Monday, April 25th at 6 PM. We will also have Master Sargeant Loruse our community relations police officer as our guest speaker. Hoping to have the date secured by this week so that Newsletters can be sent off for printing. Once this is completed we will reach out to some of our volunteers to help hand deliver Newsletters. We appreciate everyones patience.

New Year Update
Published: 01/04/2022

Happy New Year to all! Just a quick update. We are currently working on filing as a non-profit incorporated neighborhood association, as well as, filing for a Employers Indentification Number (EIN) with the IRS and opening a neighborhood association bank account. This does involve costs including cost to file applications and minimum amount needed to open a bank account. We will calculate the exact amount is needed to achieve this. Ideas for fundraising is greatly appreciated.

Once this is completed, we will work on the next newsletter with next meeting/elections date. We will be contacting those of you who expressed interest in volunteering to help pass newsletters.

We will keep you all posted on the next meeting date. For those of you who were unable to make it, we are aiming for January given the upcoming holidays. We hope to hold elections at that time and finalize our neighborhood bylaws. I will make a separate post with draft bylaws. These are NOT FINAL. Please feel free to contact us with thoughts regarding the bylaws at info@youngsenglewood.com.

In regard to elections, if you are interested in running for the following positions, President, Vice President, Treasurer, or Secretary, please let us know. Role Duties and expectations are listed in the draft bylaws. We hope to host a small event prior to elections to allow everyone to get to know the candidates. We look forward to meeting you all at our next meeting.

I will reach out to those who expressed interest in volunteering soon and exchange info with you all. Meeting minutes can be found here.

Attached is a pie chart of the Youngs-Englewood Neighborhood Association 2022 neighborhood initiative ideas.
